After graduating from art school with bachelor's and master's degrees, my plan was to find a teaching job. However, since the job market had tightened and I had no prior teaching experience, I was unable to find a job teaching art.

I worked in a couple jobs unrelated to art and then decided to open an art and frame shop in my hometown in Virginia.

Operating this business enabled me to expand a number of my skills.
